We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Risk & Compliance Manager to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

Based at one of our Valmont Coatings sites across Australia, this role supports Valmont’s mission to conserve resources and improve lives. The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical guidance to enhance environmental performance across the APAC region, working closely with operational leaders to drive environmental excellence.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Ensure compliance with site operating permits and applicable environmental legislation, maintaining a strong focus on regulatory adherence and continuous improvement.
• Support the development and ongoing management of Operational Environmental Management Plans and the Environmental Aspects & Impacts Register; assist in audit readiness for internal and external inspections (e.g., insurers, EHS consultants, regulatory agencies).
• Coordinate and manage regulatory reporting obligations, including National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) and the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI).
• Collect, analyze, and report environmental data on a monthly basis; provide insights and support to leadership teams for the implementation of global environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct routine environmental inspections and audits to identify hazards, risks, and areas of non-compliance; recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Lead or support investigations of environmental incidents, near-misses, and hazards requiring root cause analysis (RCA); drive the development of action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver environmental education and awareness programs for internal stakeholders; contribute to project- and asset-related environmental initiatives.
• Champion continuous improvement across environmental management systems, ensuring alignment with global standards, policies, and best practices.
• Maintain and update the company’s incident reporting and environmental performance systems (e.g., Intelex), ensuring accuracy and data integrity.

About you
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an environmental role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes in complex operational environments.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply this understanding to real-world situations.
• Experience in contaminated land assessment and management, with a solid grasp of relevant investigation and remediation processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance, including the use of systems to monitor, measure, and report on environmental performance.
• Highly organized, with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
