About the position

The Environmental Resources Manager (ERM) plays a critical role in managing the environmental resources of a large HOA community in Orange County, VA. This full-time position involves overseeing budgets and staff related to lakes, marinas, stormwater management, and regulatory enforcement. The ERM is responsible for conducting monitoring, research, and data analysis to implement long-term watershed management strategies, ensuring the ecological balance and health of the community's water resources.

Responsibilities
• Manage budgets and staff related to lakes, marinas, and stormwater management.
,
• Conduct monitoring, research, and data collection related to lakes and tributaries.
,
• Operate and maintain two dams in accordance with Virginia regulations.
,
• Implement long-term watershed management strategies.
,
• Manage a sampling and testing program for water quality.
,
• Conduct biological surveys of lakes and tributaries.
,
• Oversee dredging operations and manage marina staff.
,
• Coordinate lake events and activities with association staff and event sponsors.
,
• Educate residents on ecological and conservation issues related to the lakes.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in limnology, biology, ecology, environmental science, or natural resources management; Master's degree preferred.

• Five years of experience in management of water resources, especially recreational lakes.

• Valid Virginia driver's license and ability to pass a background check.

• Ability to obtain Virginia Erosion & Sediment Inspector certification and pass Virginia Boater Safety Course.

• Skills in GIS, technical writing, and interpreting environmental data.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with emergency management and incident command systems.

Benefits
