About the position
The Environmental Field Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of field and office tasks related to the operation of remediation systems and environmental investigations. This role requires a strong focus on safety and compliance while working on-site in Charleston, WV, and involves both independent and collaborative work with subcontractors and clients.
Responsibilities
• Oversee or perform field work tasks under minimal to no supervision, including remediation system maintenance and environmental media sampling.

• Lead and support safety operations at the site.
,
• Set up, assemble, install, and perform minor troubleshooting or repairs of remediation equipment as directed.
,
• Inspect groundwater remediation systems and maintain compliance with permit conditions.
,
• Learn Quality Management Systems and apply processes in work conduct.
,
• Sample groundwater and other mediums such as soil, sediment, and air.
,
• Complete rigorous field documentation and participate in planning and reporting related to field tasks.
,
• Observe subcontractors and troubleshoot equipment failures, communicating repair needs as necessary.
,
• Interact with clients and coordinate logistics for field efforts.
Requirements
• 2-7 years equivalent experience preferred; more experienced candidates may be considered.
,
• High school diploma or equivalent; formal technical training or an Associate degree preferred.
,
• Ability to follow explicit directions in multi-step procedures.
,
• Experience with Microsoft Office software.
,
• Physically fit to perform fieldwork within industrial facilities up to 90% of the time, and able to wear a respirator if required.
,
• 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain/maintain it.
,
• Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
,
• Ability to participate in a random drug testing program.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients.

• Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data.
