Position Overview
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. a Davey Company, is seeking an entry-level (0-2 years of related experience) Environmental Regulatory Technician to join our energetic team in Gainesville, Virginia. This position is focused on the regulations of the Clean Water Act Section 401/404 permitting for land development projects. Ultimately this position serves as a liaison between federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and clients for permit procurement.
Job Duties
• Assist with preparation of various reports and applications
• Review plans and environmental resources mapping
• State and Federal Endangered and Threatened Species database searches.
• Effectively and professionally communication with project team members, regulatory agencies, and clients
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Assist with performing field investigations and accurately documenting findings
• Ability to attend in-person meetings, trainings, and networking events
Qualifications
Qualifications - Required
• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, science, policy, or a related discipline
• Basic knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to 401/404 Clean Water Act and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
Qualification - Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS
• Awareness of DEQ, USACE, NEPA, FEMA or FERC regulations, and local land development practices/goals are a plus
