Job Description

The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking an Environmental Protection Specialist in California, MO, to manage military munitions regulations and conduct environmental assessments. Position: ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST
Location: California

The U.S. Marine Corps is hiring an Environmental Protection Specialist at Camp Pendleton, CA. Responsibilities include managing compliance with military munitions regulations, conducting environmental assessments, and developing project documentation. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with relevant experience in environmental compliance and program management. The position requires a valid driver’s license and passing a pre-appointment physical examination.
Duties
• You will assist with the implementation of the Range Environmental Vulnerability Assessment (REVA) program and other Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance requirements at MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
• You will manage the Military Munitions Rule compliance program at MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
• You will develop, analyze, evaluate, and modify existing Military Munitions Rule programs, policies and procedures.
• You will be responsible for coordinating the requirement for tracking and reporting military munitions use for the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting requirements under EPCRA 313.
• You will develop and submit project documentation and funding requests for military munitions program projects as required to maintain compliance with applicable existing and emerging regulations and permits.
• You will conduct National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for the military munitions program as necessary to ensure program requirements are considered.Requirements
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following:
1) Coordinating annual surface water and groundwater assessments to evaluate potential off-range migration of munitions constituents;
2) Conducting quality assurance reviews for programs to identify systemic problems;
3) Developing project documentation and funding requests for program projects as required to maintain compliance with applicable existing and emerging regulations and permits;
4) Advising on the implementation of environmental compliance programs and activities with consideration of federal, state, and local laws; and
5) Developing lesson plans to support formal training programs.
