About the position

The Environmental Protection Specialist position at the Department of Defense involves serving as an Environmental Program and Project Manager. The incumbent will manage, control, coordinate, and execute assigned programs and projects that focus on the remediation and environmental compliance of bulk petroleum. This role requires planning, preparing, and implementing corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policies in the development of projects that support the assigned program. The specialist will negotiate and integrate all of the Agency's Environmental Energy functions, including compliance and restoration, into DLA Energy's planning, designs, studies, cost engineering, construction, real estate, contracting, and inventory management. Additionally, the specialist will support DLA Energy customer needs by ensuring that regulatory requirements and commitments from other agencies are clearly defined and implemented. The role also involves designing and conducting studies related to air, surface, water, and groundwater pollution and control, ensuring compliance with policy directives. This position is critical in maintaining environmental standards and ensuring that all projects align with federal regulations and agency goals.

Responsibilities
• Serve as an Environmental Program and Project Manager.

• Manage, control, coordinate, and execute assigned programs and projects involving Remediation and Environmental Compliance of Bulk Petroleum.

• Plan, prepare, and implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policy in the development of the project(s) in support of the program assigned.

• Negotiate and integrate all the Agency's Environmental Energy functions into DLA Energy planning, designs, studies, cost engineering, construction, real estate, contracting, inventory, and DFSP Management.
,
• Support DLA Energy customer needs by ensuring regulatory requirements and other Agencies' commitments are defined and implemented.

• Design and conduct studies in air, surface, water, and groundwater pollution and control in compliance with policy directives.

Requirements
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
,
• One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to perform the duties of the position, typically in or related to the position to be filled.
,
• Experience managing an Environmental Protection program or project.
,
• Experience participating in environmental restoration and/or compliance projects.
,
• Experience ensuring regulatory requirements are met in fuel/energy programs.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in federal service, military, or private sector related to environmental compliance.
,
• Knowledge of environmental policy and strategy development.
