Description:

SUMMARY:

Environmental Project Manager is the technical, administrative, and communications link between the firm and the client, as well as general contractors, sub-consultants, and public authorities. The Project Manager leads environmental projects. Under the general direction of the Director of the Environmental Department, and with guidance from fellow Project Managers, the Environmental Project Manager functions as a Technical and administrative lead within the Environmental Department for assigned work by: providing project technical and administrative management; preparing proposals, work plans and reports; performing quality assurance and quality control functions; performing fieldwork, including interior and exterior projects in all weather conditions; and, traveling as required to meet company, client, and project needs.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or environmental-related degree from an accredited university.
• Five (5) or more years of project management experience with environmental consulting projects.
• Eight (8) or more years of professional experience in the field of environmental assessment, investigations, and environmental consulting with a strong understanding of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II ESAs, as well as Illinois DOT Preliminary Environmental Site Assessments (PESAs) and Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs), as well as applicable regulations.
• Strong knowledge of ArcGIS systems.
• Knowledge of federal and Illinois State regulations and ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams for environmental projects of advanced technical scope and complexity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage environmental project schedules, budgets, and invoicing.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on outstanding client service.

Responsibilities:
• Manages environmental projects that may include multiple assignments that are occurring concurrently, with diverse scopes, multi-disciplinary teams, and multiple subcontractors.
• Manages project teams by clearly communicating expectations for project requirements, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Complies with operating protocols, business ethics, purchasing, and subcontracting requirements.
• Provides strong technical capabilities and leadership.
• Sets objectives for team members.
• Communicates well with clients and subcontractors.
• Assists with major program management, business development, and proposal efforts, including estimating and profitability solutions.
• Able to understand and articulate project scope based upon client issued requests for proposals or contract documents.
• Timely and accurate submittal of invoices to clients, with periodic follow-up until payment.

Preferred Licensure:
• An Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license or other applicable license or registration is preferred.
• CHMM certification is preferred
• Posses 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and current refresher.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. The noise level on the construction site is often loud. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
