The Environmental Program Manager - Climate and Clean Energy at the Port of Seattle plays a crucial role in addressing climate change and advancing clean energy initiatives within the aviation and maritime industries. This position is responsible for providing technical and policy resources to meet the complex demands of climate change and the clean energy economy. The manager will work independently to oversee projects, conduct research, and develop strategies that support the Port's commitment to transitioning to clean fuels and achieving zero emissions. In this role, the manager will coordinate and manage environmental studies and projects related to climate and clean energy, including the development and deployment of new clean energy technologies. This involves analyzing climate and clean energy materials, reports, and legislation, as well as developing recommendations for policy advocacy at regional, national, and international levels. The manager will also be tasked with researching current trends and innovations in clean energy, collaborating with teams to leverage the Port's involvement in these initiatives. The position requires effective communication and advocacy for the Port's interests to various stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, tribal entities, and non-governmental organizations. The manager will serve as a connector, organizing meetings and drafting materials for internal and external partnerships, and will lead projects that explore the viability of new clean energy technologies, including their technical, policy, financing, and regulatory aspects. Additionally, the manager will assist with grant writing, manage consultant contracts, and develop port-wide strategies to support the transition to clean technologies, ensuring effective coordination between aviation and maritime operations.

Responsibilities
• Provide technical and policy resources for climate change and clean energy initiatives.

• Manage projects related to climate and clean energy studies, including strategy development and project management.

• Conduct technical and policy analysis, research, and develop recommendations for clean energy policies.

• Coordinate and advocate for supportive regional, national, and international policies related to clean fuels and decarbonization.

• Research current trends and innovations in clean energy and collaborate with teams to leverage the Port's role.

• Prepare background materials, talking points, and responses for the Senior Director and team.
,
• Communicate and advocate for Port interests to various stakeholders, including government and non-governmental organizations.

• Organize meetings and draft materials for internal and external partnerships.
,
• Lead projects exploring clean energy technologies, including their viability and regulatory aspects.

• Assist with grant writing and manage consultant contracts.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental or physical sciences, engineering, economics, environmental management, planning or policy.

• At least four (4) years of experience in climate or clean energy analysis and research.

• Knowledge of climate science, energy management/policy, emissions reduction, and clean fuel technologies.
,
• Strong organizational skills and effective meeting facilitation and negotiation skills.

• Highly developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to manage multiple complex projects on time and work within a team structure.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with grant writing and managing consultant contracts.
