Job Overview
The Environmental Program Leader will oversee staff and campers in overnight lodgings, supporting all programming at the 4-H Camp and Learning Center. This role involves mentoring staff, covering staff off-time, planning and leading activities, high ropes course support, and more.
Responsibilities
• Oversee overnight supervision of the bunkhouse and cabins
• Mentor staff to become effective at creating a positive, safe, and supportive environment for campers
• SUPPORT CAMPERS IN ADJUSTING TO CAMP LIFE BY PROVIDING EMOTIONAL REASSURANCE AND GUIDANCE THROUGH HOMESICKNESS, ENSURING THEY FEEL SAFE, INCLUDED, AND CONNECTED TO THEIR CAMP COMMUNITY
• Address and resolve conflicts between campers by facilitating open communication, promoting empathy, and guiding them toward mutually agreeable solutions
• Support and fill in for programming
• High Ropes Course support
• Attend staff meetings and debriefs as scheduled
• Plan lessons, lead activities, mentor staff, and campers, and provide opportunities for campers and staff to learn and explore the outdoors through high-quality experiences
• Supervise campers and ensure safety and risk management policies are followed
• Perform camp chores that benefit the greater community
• Provide basic first aid as needed
