Job Description
Eocene Environmental Group, Inc. is hiring a full-time Environmental Planner in Phoenix, AZ, with remote work options for U.S.-based candidates. The role involves obtaining permits for energy, telecommunications, water, or mining projects, requiring a B.S. in environmental planning and two years of relevant experience. Compensation ranges from $24 to $35 per hour, with benefits including medical, 401k, and paid time off.

Compensation: $24 - $35 per hour based on relevant experience
This position is open to remote work; candidates must be located within the United States. Ideal candidates will be located within the Southwest Region of the US.

JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Planner position will provide environmental planning expertise to lead or assist in obtaining local, state and/or federal permits for projects related to the energy, telecommunications, water, or mining industries.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
• Complete tasks associated with NEPA or other local, state and federal permitting
• Research requirements for a variety of local, state and federal permits
• Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients and other project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
• Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements
• Track and organize permit processes and status
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
• Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
• Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
• Strong knowledge of NEPA
• 2 years experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies
• Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
• Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
• Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies
• Note-taking ability
• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• 5 years experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies preferred
• Experience writing and preparing categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and/or environmental impact statements for different agencies
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
• Familiarity with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, etc.)
