Rincon Consultants is hiring an Environmental Planner for renewable energy projects in Ventura, CA. The role involves CEQA/NEPA assessments, research, impact analysis, and client interaction. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 3 years of experience in environmental planning. Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Planner with experience in environmental (CEQA/NEPA) assessment and permitting of renewable energy, electric transmission, and other energy generation facilities. This role will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development related to CEQA/NEPA and related technical studies. We have an opening and an excellent opportunity for an Energy Sector Environmental Planner/Scientist to join our team to work with industry-leading clients on cutting edge projects in California.
While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Please note, this position is listed for the City of Ventura but is also available at all the locations stated in this job description.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Write and manage the preparation of CEQA/NEPA documents for renewable energy, electric transmission, and other energy generation facilities
• Write and manage constraints and feasibility studies
• Perform and manage current planning duties through the entitlement and permitting stage
• Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
• Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance
• Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA/NEPA and related technical areas
• Understand the entire environmental scope of the projects and their impacts on the various groups & agencies involved
• Contribute to the clean energy future of California
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
• Minimum B.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related degree
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Must have knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of environmental planning; federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to planning and environmental resources
• A practical understanding of CEQA and/or NEPA, as well as knowledge of other federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations
• Highly motivated with excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail-oriented, resourceful, strong time management skills, and innovative
• Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

The base salary range for this full-time position is $74,000-$105,000, plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
