Environmental Operator

AECI is hiring an Environmental Operator in Lethabong, South Africa. Responsibilities include collecting effluent samples, recording flow readings, cleaning drains, preparing lime solutions, managing solid waste transport, and ensuring compliance with safety and governance standards. This is a full-time position with no degree required.
• Effluent sample collection - Collect effluent and sewage samples on a daily basis to generate daily and weekly effluent results
• Record flow readings daily at weak and strong effluent monitoring stations, investigate and report abnormalities in flow and report equipment failures and malfunctions
• Clean drains, flumes and measuring points of sand and debris especially in the rainy season and fill in flume check lists
• Make up lime solution for acid neutralization as needed and stipulated in the Operating Instruction.
• Ensure there is a constant supply of lime solution in the lime tank.
• Fill in lime control stock sheet
• Removal of solid waste -Drive tractor with attached powerax and waste skip containing explosive solid waste from the different plants to the correct burning ground daily.
• Assist burning ground personnel with waste offloading.
• Return empty skips to the respective collection points.
• Drive tractor with attached powerax and waste skip containing building rubble and soil to the Solid Waste Facility
• Investigate the cause and/or source of abnormal effluent or water flows and report to the Environmental Officer and take special samples where relevant.
• Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices
• Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards
