Job Description
Shou'alah is hiring an Environmental Officer in Dubai, UAE, exclusively for Emirati candidates. The role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, managing environmental programs, and maintaining documentation for ISO standards. Responsibilities include conducting audits, providing support to management, and liaising with regulators. Candidates should have a degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, ISO 14001 certification, and at least 5 years of relevant experience in power generation or similar fields.
Position: Environmental Officer (Emirati only)
1.1 Job Scope Summary
The Environmental Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and targets, administering the company's environmental policies and procedures, and supporting the continued operation of the plants in compliance with regulatory and corporate standards, including federal and state regulations, output requirements, and contractual obligations.

Job Responsibilities
The Environmental Officer manages the company's environmental programs, policies, and procedures to prevent, eliminate, control, and reduce work-related hazards while maintaining environmental responsibility.
The role involves ensuring compliance with legal requirements and implementing improvement measures within the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) in accordance with relevant norms, rules, and regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and manage all documentation related to the Environmental Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 guidelines and plant-specific requirements.
• Provide environmental support and advice to the QHSE Manager and Plant Team as needed.
• Maintain relationships with external parties such as regulators and local authorities, accompany them during site visits, and provide necessary documentation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting and monitoring requirements, including procurement of site environmental permits.
• Conduct and document periodic inspections and audits to verify environmental compliance.
• Prepare monthly environmental performance reports.
• Develop and maintain the Plant Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register, tracking actions until closure.
• Review risk assessments and work procedures to ensure environmental risks are identified and managed.
• Investigate environmental incidents, produce HSE alerts, and document lessons learned.
• Maintain records and documentation in written or electronic form.
• Monitor daily CEMS values, record deviations, and prepare monthly summaries.
• Ensure adequate spill kits are available and organize spill drills.
• Organize environmental training for plant staff.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs and ensure reporting compliance.
• Review environmental measurement data and reports, and implement improvement actions as needed.
• Develop and maintain plant environmental emergency plans and conduct pollution control and incident training.
• Manage waste on-site, ensuring compliance with waste hierarchy, proper labeling, packaging, and disposal planning, and maintaining waste records.
Additional duties include organizing management reviews, liaising with corporate teams for continuous improvement, and adapting responsibilities as needed for business requirements.
1.3 Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training Certifications
• Degree in Environmental Science or related field
• Degree in Environmental Engineering or similar, preferably at the bachelor's level
• Certified ISO 14001 Internal Auditor
1.4 Job Experience
• At least 5 years of environmental experience in power generation or similar industries, with experience in implementing and auditing Plant PMS systems
• Deep knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS implementation, maintenance, and auditing
• Preferably familiar with other standards like ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001
• Knowledge of UAE environmental laws and IFC standards
