Job Description

Amphastar is hiring an Environmental Manufacturing Monitoring Technician in South El Monte, CA. The role involves gathering environmental samples for microbiological testing, operating lab equipment, and documenting results. Training lasts 4-6 months across all shifts, starting with early morning hours. Candidates must have a high school diploma and be available for any shift. Good penmanship is required, and other lab duties may be assigned.
This position trains in all shifts. Training is expected to last 4-6 months. New hires will start first shift (approximate start time is 2-4am), then move on second shift (approximate start time 12pm-2pm), and finish up training on third shift (approximate start time 7pm-9pm). After completion of training, a permanent shift will be assigned.
Summary: This position is responsible for gathering samples in our production area for our microbiologist. It will gather samples of water, plate our employees, or sample other areas of the environment. It will also use equipment to perform routine tasks and documentation. Good penmanship is required for this position. Must be available to work any shift mentioned above.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Performs test preparation and setup and runs tests.
- Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as RCS machines and pH meters.
- Prepares media and reagants to be used in microbiological testing.
- Samples water and medication bulk solution for microbiological testing.

- Samples environmental surfaces and air to verify conformity to specifications.
- Keeps inventory of lab supplies and places orders.
- Performs general lab area and incubator/refrigerator cleaning.
- Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports descriving procedures used.
- Prepares graphs and charts.
- Prepares irradiation loads for laboratory components.
- Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment. Calibrates laboratory instruments.
