Environmental Manager

R.W. Tomlinson Limited is seeking an Environmental Manager for its Ottawa operations. The role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, supervising lab staff, providing technical support, overseeing waste processing, and developing training programs. Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in the environmental sector and a degree in Environmental Sciences or Chemistry. Tomlinson Industrial Waste Division is looking for a passionate, strategic and Environmental leader to fill the role of Environmental Manager for our Ottawa operations.

Primary Responsibilities
• Ensure that all sites are operating within their respective certificates of approval
• Verify waste stream characterization to ensure compliance with Reg. 347
• Familiarity with Reg. 347 and153
• Supervise lab staff and ensure that lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
• Provide technical expertise to the sales group
• Responsible for quality control for all inbound/outbound waste
• Amend manifests as required
• Oversee waste processing activities (bulking, blending, neutralization, etc.)
• Categorize waste streams
• Source and negotiate best possible disposal options for various waste streams
• Develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers
• Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience
• Knowledge of current provincial and federal regulations relating to the Environmental industry
• 8+ years of industry experience
• Strong knowledge of Chemistry
• Degree in Environmental Sciences or Chemistry
