Job Description
International Paper is seeking an Environmental Manager for its Riegelwood, NC location. This role involves ensuring regulatory compliance, managing environmental staff, and driving the Environmental Management System. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in environmental or operations roles. The Job You Will Perform
• Assure regulatory compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, as well as with corporate regulations.
• Directly manage all environmental staff and services
• Drive and maintain the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS) including programs development and implementation, performance tracking, personnel training and regular EMS reviews
• Monitor environmental regulations and incorporate into mill manuals, programs and procedures
• Work with mill management to establish environmental performance improvement and sustainability goals and objectives
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all regulatory and corporate submittals
• Lead environmental permitting, including renewals
• Provide technical environmental leadership to the site and collaborate with departments to meet objectives and improve performance
• Act as primary mill representative to regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and professional and industry associations

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or closely related discipline
• Minimum 5+ years of environmental or operations experience
• Environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
• Proficiency in productivity and other computer software
• Ability to manage many projects with shifting priorities

Our GCF business helps customers transform renewable cellulose fibers into essential everyday products.
