Daniel Owen are proud to be representing a social housing company based in London who are looking for a Environmental Manager to join their team on a permanent basis to work to focus on creating affordable, safe, and environmentally–conscious housing and lead our environmental initiatives across London.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental policies, procedures, and systems in line with legislation and industry standards.
• Lead the environmental strategy for the company, including waste management, carbon reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable materials.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, environmental permits, and standards such as ISO 14001.
• Conduct environmental risk assessments and audits across construction sites, ensuring any environmental impact is minimised and sustainability objectives are met.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental issues to project teams, contractors, and senior management.
• Work closely with the procurement team to promote the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials on all projects.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance, setting targets and driving continuous improvement in sustainability practices.
• Ensure environmental considerations are embedded in project planning, from design to completion.
• Manage environmental incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.
• Conduct environmental training and awareness programs for staff, contractors, and site teams to promote a culture of sustainability.
• Build relationships with external stakeholders, including environmental agencies, local authorities, and sustainability organisations.
• Stay up–to–date with environmental legislation, best practices, and innovations in sustainable construction.

Key Knowledge:
• Construction industry knowledge
• Social housing/Local authority background
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental management role within the construction, housing, or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental regulations, standards, and best practices
• Proven experience in managing environmental impact on construction sites and projects.
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from senior management to site teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and report–writing skills.
• Strong problem–solving abilities and a proactive approach to environmental challenges.
• Experience in delivering environmental training and promoting sustainability practices.
