Job Description
Amazon is seeking an Environmental Manager for its Delivery Stations in Mexico. The role involves managing environmental compliance, training teams, implementing sustainability standards, and ensuring adherence to regulations. The EM will lead waste management, conduct audits, and collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in environmental management. This position is not remote and is based in Mexico.
Description
The Environmental Manager (EM) is responsible for the environmental functions at the Amazon sites at Delivery Stations in the Metro Region. The EM develops internal systems, standards and policies to comply with environmental regulatory requirements and provides guidance and training for operations, facilities, transportation, and maintenance teams.
The EM proactively implements mechanisms to continuously improve environmental performance; establishes systems, monitors progress, and guides multi-functional teams in the implementation of Amazon's environmental and sustainability standards. The EM will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
• Manage and oversee local, state, and federal environmental regulations as well as Amazon policies. Train, guide, and motivate internal teams so they understand how their daily work affects regulatory compliance, the environment, and the communities in which Amazon operates, and conduct themselves as responsible environmental stewards.
• Lead at sites the proper waste management techniques, collection of water samples, facilitate regulatory inspections, mitigate environmental risks, and ensure records are maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental standards.
• Generate new ideas and methods for solving recurring problems and encourage associates to innovate and continuously improve.
• Enforce Amazon standards and policies and use tools and mechanisms to drive their adoption.
• Foster an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
• Lead the sites in interactions with environmental regulatory agencies, permit evaluation and processing, and the introduction of new processes and technologies.
• Ensure that work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
• Develop environmental systems, implement and monitor performance using leading indicators.
• Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement.
• Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
• Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with government agencies and throughout the company.
• Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
• Submit time critical reports to various government agencies.
• Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports, and develop appropriate corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2+ years managing regulatory assessments, permits, waste management, and recycling.
• English B2Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study
• 2+ years performing as environmental field manager or related.
• Broad knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations
