Job Description
gpac is seeking a mid-level Environmental Litigation Associate for their Pittsburgh-based firm. The role involves managing environmental disputes and civil litigation, requiring 2–6 years of commercial litigation experience. Key responsibilities include handling litigation from investigation to resolution, drafting legal documents, conducting research, and collaborating with other attorneys. Our client firm is searching for a mid-level Environmental Litigation Associate to join its sophisticated litigation practice based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania .
This position is well-suited for a commercial litigator who wants to build a long-term practice focused on environmental disputes , regulatory matters, and complex civil litigation. Prior environmental experience is helpful but not required —strong litigation fundamentals and a genuine interest in environmental law are key.
Position: Environmental Litigation Associate (2–6 Years)
Role Overview
The associate will support and manage matters involving environmental disputes, regulatory enforcement actions, and related civil litigation. The practice regularly handles issues tied to contaminated sites, compliance counseling, emergency response matters, and litigation arising from environmental incidents.
Key Responsibilities
• Handle litigation matters from early investigation through resolution
• Draft and revise motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests, and responses
• Conduct legal and factual research involving environmental statutes and regulations
• Work with technical consultants and experts on complex factual issues
• Manage discovery and large-scale document review projects
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trials
• Collaborate with attorneys across litigation, regulatory, and transactional teams
• Assist with client communications and business development efforts
Qualifications
• 2–6 years of commercial litigation experience
• Demonstrated strength in legal research, writing, and motion practice
• Experience managing document-heavy litigation matters
• Ability to analyze and explain complex technical and factual information
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work across litigation, regulatory, and administrative matters
• Active Pennsylvania Bar license in good standing
