Job description

The Planet Group is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Analyst to be responsible for collecting, monitoring, and analyzing environmental samples to detect pollutants and contaminants. This role supports environmental compliance by evaluating air, water, and soil quality and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.




Key Responsibilities

Sample Collection & Analysis

Collect environmental samples from air, water, and soil sourcesPerform laboratory analysis using specialized equipment and testing methodsInterpret results to identify contaminants and assess environmental conditionsMonitor environmental systems such as wastewater treatment, air pollution control, and waste management operationsEnsure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, permits, and standardsSupport audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting requirementsAnalyze environmental data to identify trends and evaluate system performanceMaintain accurate records, permits, and compliance documentationEnsure all data and reports meet regulatory and organizational standardsAssist with environmental incident response, including spills and releasesFollow established emergency response procedures and protocols


Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field OR associate’s degree in a related field with relevant experience


Experience

Several years of experience in environmental monitoring and laboratory testingFamiliarity with industrial processes and environmental systems preferred


Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirementsProficiency with laboratory equipment, environmental monitoring tools, and data analysis softwareStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reportingEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentPrepare reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders
