Job Description

Eastern Kentucky University is hiring a part-time Environmental Health and Safety Technician for its Richmond campus. The role involves conducting safety inspections, hazardous waste tracking, and safety training, requiring strong communication skills. Job Summary/Basic Functions

EH&S Technicians will participate in the Department of Environmental Health and Safety activities including AED inspections, life safety building inspections, laboratory safety inspections, fume hood testing, hazardous chemical inventories, hazardous waste tracking, safety training (OSHA), environmental training (EPA). Technicians will also, upon proper certification, be involved in hazardous waste mitigation activities as well as on-campus transport of materials. The position requires frequent communication in the form of emails, memos, and reports with various University faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be enrolled at EKU.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants ideally will have at least the following coursework in Environmental Health Science: Industrial Hygiene (EHS 340), Hazardous and Solid Waste (EHS 335), and Air Pollution (EHS 360). OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills are desired.

• 20% - Email Communication to Faculty and use of webtma maintenance tools - (Essential)
