Job Description

Universal Display Corporation is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for its Wilmington, DE location. The role involves supporting EHS compliance, conducting inspections, and coordinating training related to health, safety, and environmental programs. The specialist will collaborate with various departments and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety is required. This position is not remote, as it is based in Wilmington, DE.

Position Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will assist, the Senior EHS Manager in all aspects of risk-based health, safety and environmental programs at the New Castle, DE and Wilmington, DE facilities. The EHS Specialist will be the support contact for EHS compliance and assist with managing interactions with regulatory agencies. She/he will partner with Facilities, Chemistry, Manufacturing, and other departments to provide support and coordination of overall EHS compliance and implementation of procedures and training consistent with the Company’s policies and guiding principles.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support, coordinate, and implement appropriate EHS, Industrial Hygiene and Process Safety programs and necessary related training.
• Perform JSA & PHAs, air quality monitoring, and conduct personal employee chemical exposure analysis.
• Support, coordinate, and maintain documentation for Air Quality registrations and/or permits. Conduct inspections of exhaust and safety equipment as required.
• Evaluate working conditions across the site to identify and mitigate potential hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions.
• Support EHS Safety Committee activities internal to Adesis.
• Conduct workplace inspections and identify safety hazards to assure compliance to policy and regulations.
• Support, implement, and test emergency response plans and keep them current.
• Assist with all functional areas within the company to assure all EHS issues are fully understood and executed.
• Ensure all regulatory standards relating to chemical inventory, labeling, and safety data sheets are met and kept up to date.
• Ensure EHS record keeping provides timely reporting to both internal organizations and external agencies.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS.
• Use appropriate communications and escalations to inform upper management of all EHS related events including, but not limited to injuries, illnesses, emergency incidents, including updates until root cause, corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented.
• Participate in the development of projects and prevention initiatives, as well as participate in incident/accident investigation and identify and implement appropriate corrective action.
• Have excellent communication & presentation skills and ability to provide EHS training to staff.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree, Occupational Health & Safety major preferred; a BS in Engineering, Chemistry or Business-related discipline will be acceptable with the proper experience.
• CSP or other certifications preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing environmental, health and safety standards.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel.
• Technical expertise in occupational health and safety with a strong emphasis in chemical safety/compatibility.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• ISO 14001, ISO 17025, and OHSAS 18001 program development preferred.
• 3 years of professional experience in an industrial EHS leadership role, preferred.

Physical Demands
• Extensive walking inside of buildings and around exterior areas of the sites.
• Climb and descend ladders and stairs.
• Work around electrical equipment using proper safety procedures.
• Must be able to pass a medical clearance required for respirator assignment.
