Position Summary:

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and overseeing the efficient operation of the company's physical assets and infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in preventing workplace accidents, promoting health and safety awareness, and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing health and safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and governmental regulations.
• Monitoring and evaluating workplace safety conditions, conducting risk assessments, and providing training to employees to enhance safety awareness.
• Overseeing the maintenance and reliability of company facilities to support seamless business operations.
• Ensuring environmental compliance, including air, stormwater, and wastewater permitting and regulations, as well as driving environmental sustainability initiatives.

The EHS Manager will serve as a strategic partner in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace while continuously improving environmental and safety practices within the organization.

Responsibilities included but are not limited to the following:
• Develop and implement a proactive maintenance plan to ensure the operational efficiency of facilities and equipment.
• Oversee repairs, upgrades, and replacements as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to optimize facility layout, machine placement, product flow, and future expansion needs.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee facility-related projects, including roofing, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and security systems.
• Coordinate, administer, and implement proactive safety training programs in occupational, industrial, and environmental safety.
• Ensure managers and supervisors receive appropriate safety, accident prevention, and investigation training.
• Conduct EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Develop and manage workplace safety programs, procedures, and policies.
• Maintain records of safety incidents, investigations, and corrective action plans.
• Oversee security measures to protect employees, facilities, and company assets.
• Conduct rigorous root cause analysis for reported accidents and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Lead post-accident investigations and prepare detailed reports identifying contributing hazards and solutions.
• Partner with HR to track employee safety training participation and maintain complete safety records.
• Serve as the primary contact for facility injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
• Develop and implement policies to ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
• Stay updated on relevant EHS regulations, building codes, and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop an Emergency Action Plan and oversee facility emergency response procedures.
• Serve as the company’s primary contact for all EHS regulatory agencies, including OSHA and municipal agencies.
• Identify areas for improvement within facility operations and implement strategies to enhance efficiency.
• Oversee space planning and utilization, ensuring optimal use of facilities and equipment.
• Develop budgets and cost controls in partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor to optimize operational expenses.
• Plan, source vendors, and oversee facility-related projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
• Maintain records of facility assets, equipment, and systems, planning for lifecycle replacements and upgrades.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental, Ergonomics or related field or 2+ years of experience in Safety and/or Environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
• Detailed understanding of EHS regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state and local.
• Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
• Proficiency with repair tools and techniques.
• Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to conduct Risk Assessments
• Administrative policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with department budget process and tools.
• Knowledge of project controls.
• Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
• Multi-tasking ability.
• Communication, meeting, and presentation skills.

Desired Qualification and Attributes:
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish a plus.
• Current related certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA etc. highly desirable
• Hands-on, high-energy individual with an eagerness to learn and excel, and the capability to engage others in training to raise awareness and safety compliance.
• Tolerance for ambiguity and the resilience to handle stressful situations

Physical Conditions
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb, and navigate in closed manufacturing spaces on occasion
• Ability to safely lift and move objects up to twenty-five (25) lbs. over short distances
