Job Description

The University System of New Hampshire is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for Keene State College. This role involves providing technical and advisory services in health and safety programs, requiring a Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Candidates must possess effective communication skills and the ability to respond in-person to campus locations. The position is full-time and not remote.
Summary Of Position
The Facilities Services Department at Keene State College is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to provide technical and advisory services in assigned campus wide health and safety program area(s), such as biological health and safety, chemical health and safety, occupational health and safety, and radiation safety.

Other Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, or related STEM field and two years experience in safety or environmental compliance roles in higher education. Ability to obtain New Hampshire Hazardous Waste Coordinator Certification within 1 year of hire. Effective communications skills to interact and communicate environmental health and safety procedures to faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated computer skills. Ability to respond promptly in-person to all campus locations requiring environmental health and safety services. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards and guidelines related to specialized environmental health and safety functions. Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, codes, and guidelines at the local, state and federal levels. Ability to wear and use appropriate protective equipment as necessary. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of program.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline. HAZWOPER awareness course completion preferred, but not required; expected to be completed within 1 year of hire. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
