Job Description

SCA Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator in Windsor, CT. The role involves developing and maintaining compliance policies with OSHA and environmental regulations, filing compliance reports, conducting audits, and ensuring worker safety. Candidates should have 2-4 years of relevant experience and preferably an associate degree or safety certification. Strong communication and management skills are essential. This is a full-time position.
Summary: Implement policies and procedures in accordance with Local/Federal OSHA and Environmental regulations in an administrative capacity.

Essential Functions:
• Develop, Implement, and Maintain policies and procedures in accordance with governmental regulations to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEP, Fire Regulations and Ergonomics.
• File State & Federal compliance reports/forms. Maintain respective recordkeeping.
• Maintain controls over chemicals to: facilitate completion of governmental forms and reports; comply with EPA, DEP, EPCRA, SARA, Tier II, TRI, Biennial report, SPCC, SWPPP, Clean Air Act, Proposition 65, Restricted Substance Lists; Air and water Permits; GHG and site assessments.
• Identify and take corrective action against activities that pose potential threats to workers’ health or safety, which may include recommending organizational measures to protect workers’ safety through revised methods, processes, or materials.
• Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to embed EHS considerations in all facets of operations.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Conduct pertinent audits and inspections, plan & conduct training programs.
• Track introduction and use of chemicals and maintain respective SDSs.
• Oversee general and hazardous waste activities.
• Oversee and/or coordinate industrial hygiene surveys/sample collection to minimize exposures to health hazards and diseases.
• Assist HR Manager in filing and administering Worker's Compensation claims.
• Interact with Insurers and Fire Protection personnel.

Requirements

Requirements:
• Associates degree is preferred. In lieu of a degree Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar certification such as OHST or CHST.
• 2-4 years of job-related experience including OSHA, EPA, DEP and Workers Comp.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience and knowledge in environmental reporting.
• Experience and knowledge in hazardous waste management.
