About the position

The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) position is a flexibly staffed role within the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, specifically in the Division of Environmental Health. The EHO is responsible for conducting inspections and plan reviews of retail food and public facilities, including pool and spa operations and body art shops, as well as inspections of food processors. This role requires a broad base of environmental health knowledge and offers extensive training and professional growth opportunities. Responsibilities
• Conduct inspections and plan reviews of retail food and public facilities.

• Inspect food processors, including seafood manufacturers.

• Travel across Alaska to remote communities for inspections and training.

• Educate establishment owners and employees on food safety and sanitation standards.

• Communicate effectively with regulated establishments to ensure compliance with health standards.

Requirements
