The Colorado Environmental Public Health Tracking (COEPHT) program, housed within CDPHE’s Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability (DEHS), collects, integrates, analyzes, and disseminates non-infectious disease and environmental data from various sources. Colorado Tracking is one of 33 funded jurisdictions within the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, which is led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Tracking empowers people to make evidence-based decisions on environmental public health issues by making data accessible to public health workers, policymakers, healthcare providers, environmental practitioners and community members via a web-based portal and direct partnerships. The program expands and enhances environmental public health surveillance capacity in Colorado and builds a network for awareness and risk communication in the state and locally. Tracking explores and develops measures of interest to Colorado and collaborates with other CDC-funded Environmental Public Health Tracking jurisdictions and academic partners on projects linking environmental and health outcome data.
Summary of Position:
The purpose of this position is to conduct health education, outreach, and program promotion for the Tracking program. Specifically, the position develops and distributes outreach materials for the Tracking program, evaluates the effectiveness of outreach activities, and manages the development and maintenance of content on the Tracking public portal and for social media. This involves working closely with various members of the Tracking team to use plain language and best practices for data presentation, interpret and apply surveillance findings, as well as developing and implementing strategies, plans, and activities for engaging stakeholders regarding Tracking activities and data products. The position assesses the effectiveness of outreach and communication strategies through program and outreach evaluation and identifies opportunities for continuous quality improvement. This position leads efforts in assessing the needs of the stakeholders and communities with respect to environmental health data and dissemination information about Tracking using a variety of media, including but not limited to social media. Spends a substantial amount of time working with local health departments, Tracking analysts, workgroups, the National Environmental Public Health Tracking (NEPHT) program and other NEPHT grantees on health education and program promotion planning and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Five (5) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position such as health education, health promotion, marketing, health or environmental-related project coordination, or a related field.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) years such as a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, health education, marketing, or a related field and one (1) year of related experience such as health education, health promotion, marketing, or a related field.
This experience must be substantiated within the Work Experience section of your application. Please be sure to enter all relevant job history and education within the last 10 years. "See Resume" and missing relevant employment or education will not be credited towards the minimum qualifications. Education will be credited on a year-for-year basis. Part-time work will be pro-rated. If using education to substitute for experience please upload a copy of your unofficial transcripts to your application.

Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant years of State service contribute to a candidate' position-related knowledge, skill, ability, behavior or other posted competency should be considered as a preferred qualification and given weight under the process.
• Experience creating and delivering written and oral communications products to various audiences (e.g. social media content, newsletters, fact sheets).
• Experience collaborating with internal teams, technical partners, community partners, and/or diverse public stakeholders to build partnerships.
• Experience interpreting scientific findings and/or health or environmental data for lay/non-technical audiences.
• Possess a high level of self-motivation, self-direction and intellectual curiosity.
