Length of Employment: 8 months.
Salary & benefits/8 months: ETB 25,728.00 – 28,368.00, based on the candidate qualification, experience and previous earning history plus 15% hardship allowance.
SUMMARY STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the EH manager, the EH Assistant is responsible for implementation of the water supply, Hygiene and Sanitation activities of IRC- Ethiopia, West Hararghe field office to the required standard, principles and level of participation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions of
- Assist EH staff with implementing environmental health project tracking program, including preparing and updating project schedule and implementation plan, assessment data, following up on purchase requests, tracking labor.
- Assist EH staff with preparing estimates, tender documents, creating purchase requests and contract document
- Mobilize materials and manpower to carry out WatSan construction activities as per set timeline and assist the logistics on identifying required quality materials for construction / rehabilitation
- Ensure procurement of construction materials, equipment and goods with IRC logistics including planning bid analysis, and inspection of purchased items, construction materials and equipments
- Work closely with the communities to develop new water points as out lined in the program activities
- Quality control of ongoing construction activities, measure and control cost, schedule and technical performance of the project and monitor proper use of resources
- Monitor project progress (based on EH officer input) and update schedules weekly.
- Ensure daily labor stipends are available for project officers to take to field as needed
- Work as an active member of the WatSan team, taking on additional duties as necessary and willingly assisting other members of the team in their work
- Performs other task as assigned by his supervisors
- Facilitate and monitor surveying works (profile of pipeline, topographic survey, etc) of water supply sites.
- Ensures the proper selection of location of water supply system structures and routes for pipelines together with concerned stakeholders, community and concerned project staff
- Assist in facilitating and oversee hydro geological studies to be conducted by consultants.
- Assist in Preparation of designs and bill of quantities of water supply systems and pit latrine slabs
- Assist in supervising and follow up the drilling of wells, construction of water supply system structures and installation of pipes and latrines as per schedule, standard and program principles.
- Assist in supervise and follow up contractors, daily workers or plumbers, masons and others assigned persons work progress and prepare payment sheet for the above participants as per the agreement.
- Assist in conducting need assessments and surveys for preparation of proposals for future interventions.
- Reports to the EH Manager.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by EH manager.
