Position Details

Duration: 6+ months

Hours: 32 hours/week

Core Responsibilities

1. Technical Documentation
• Draft schematic drawings for water, well, and septic permits using CAD
• Complete permit/certification packages
• Explain requirements to stakeholders

2. Field Work
• Monitor completed wells
• Collect soil and water samples
• Conduct animal bite investigations
• Transport specimens (rabies, soils, food)
• Perform routine environmental investigations

3. Program-Specific Duties

Rabies Prevention & Environmental Surveillance
• Investigate animal bites within timeline
• Handle sample collection and shipping
• Maintain communication with officials and vets

Marina & Environmental Services
• Inspect marina sewerage facilities annually
• Monitor campgrounds and tourist establishments
• Ensure regulatory compliance

Sewage and Water Program
• Support onsite program implementation
• Review maintenance reports
• Assist with permit applications
• Evaluate water well sites

4. Administrative
• Maintain accurate documentation in state database
• Manage files and communications
• Respond to public inquiries
• Support emergency declarations as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications
• High school diploma with environmental health support experience
• Report writing and data entry proficiency
• Basic computer software knowledge
• Physical ability for outdoor work
• Problem-solving skills
• Cultural competency
• Valid State Driver's License

Supervision Level
• Independent work with minimal supervision; supervisor consultation for complex issues or non-compliance.
