Job Description

The Bardstown Bourbon Company is hiring a full-time Environmental Health, Safety, & Security Technician in Bardstown, KY. The role involves ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and security regulations, and requires independent work as well as collaboration with the EHSS Manager. The position operates on a PM shift schedule (6:00pm – 6:00am) with rotating hours. This role is not remote and is based on-site.

Job Summary

This job requires the ability to work and act both independently and under the direction of the Environment Health, Safety, Security Manager. The EHSS Technician is responsible for performing tasks associated with maintaining compliance with environmental, safety and security regulations. The EHSS Technician serves as the primary interface and point of contact for gate security, emergencies, monitoring the grounds and buildings, inspections and documentation while working the appropriate shift.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

All employees of The Bardstown Bourbon Company must have the following characteristics:

• Comfortable interacting daily with distillery customers as well as tour groups and guests in a hospitality focused environment

This Position Requires The Following
• Conduct scheduled facility rounds to detect possible threats to the facility, which includes fire, suspicious persons, theft vandalism and safety hazards including distillery, bottling and all warehouses on main property and off-site property as scheduled.
• Check Outfalls and containment areas during rounds.
• Check all exterior doors are closed and locked during facility rounds.
• Perform check of wastewater treatment during rounds.
• Check and lock Bottling Facility area gate after 2 nd shift has left.
• Monitor buildings security and fire alarm systems, while always carrying a cell phone, as the main point of contact.
• Regularly monitor Security Cameras when not on rounds.
• Monitor and operate entrance to Employee/Vendor/Receiving Security Gate
• Respond to emergency/fire alarms and assume role of on scene leader.
• Provide first aid care for injuries and coordinate with EHSS Manager for off-site care or call ambulance if necessary.
• Provide proper cleaning and disposable of bloodborne pathogens after an accident.
• Conduct Monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspections and document inspection.
• Conduct Weekly Eye Wash and Safety Shower inspections and document inspections.
• Conduct annual safety shower flow test and document inspections.
• Conduct annual safety harness/lanyard inspection and document inspections.
• Conduct monthly ladder inspection and document inspections.
• Assist in conducting bi-annual Stormwater sampling as directed by EHSS Manager
• Issue hot work and Confined Space Permits (serve as entry supervisor as needed)
• Assist in planning and implementing security for special and high-risk events.
• Complete end of shift report and submit it to EHSS Manager.
• Work in hot and cold temperatures for substantial portion of shift
• Commitment to the Company’s ISO program including the quality and food safety of our products.
• Assist EHSS Manager as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Desired Qualifications And Skills
• Must be minimum 21 years of age or older.
• Relevant experience in Safety/Security/Emergency Response, a plus.
• EMT First Responder certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Self-Motivated
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Have experience in team-based manufacturing environment.
• Take direction from supervisor.
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detailed oriented, accurate and consistent in performing duties.
• Must be computer literate and capable of learning specialized software programs.
• Successfully pass a post-employment offer drug test, background check, and motor vehicle records check as conditions of their employment with the company.

Physical Requirements
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb all day; frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• The employee must be able to physically navigate around a plant/production environment, including the repetitive climbing of stairs and elevated walkways.
• Frequent expose to fluctuating indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Limited overnight travel may be required and travel by car, air, train, or other means of public transportation may be needed.
• The employee must have the ability to hear and understand verbal communication in person and over communication devices (phone, radio); ability to detect and respond to alarms, warning signals, and emergency notifications; ability to distinguish differences in tone, volume, and pitch for accurate communication.
• The employee must have the ability to read printed materials, digital screens, and fine print; ability to detect visual signals such as warning lights, hand gestures, or safety signs; ability to accurately perceive depth, color, and movement as required for the role; ability to operate tools, machinery, or vehicles requiring visual coordination.
• The employee must have the ability to use taste and smell when tasing alcohol distillate.
