Environmental Health & Safety Technician

Illumina is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Technician in Singapore to ensure safe operations in manufacturing, complying with legislation. Responsibilities include managing hazardous waste, conducting inspections, maintaining safety records, and responding to emergencies. Candidates should have NITEC or O Levels, be willing to work shifts and overtime, and ideally possess EHS certifications. The role emphasizes initiative and responsibility.
This position is responsible for ensuring all works performed at Singapore Manufacturing are done in a safe manner, in compliance with corporate and local legislation requirements. This position reports to Senior Specialist, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Provide support to the Singapore Manufacturing Operations in Hazardous Waste Life Cycle Management. (i.e. collection, segregation and disposal of chemical waste into the waste rooms)
- Conduct regular inspections in waste rooms to ensure hazardous waste volume and quantities are within safe levels
- Conduct 5S and ensure proper housekeeping is maintained for all waste room
- Facilitate the hazardous waste collection process with the toxic industrial waste collector
- Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate fire and hazardous waste chemical concerns (i.e. chemical spills)
- Inspect and maintain records of safety related items (i.e. fire protection equipment, emergency shower and eye wash, spill response kit, first aid box, AED etc.)

Preferred Experiential Background:

- NITEC or O Levels (pass in English, Science and Mathematics)
- Must be willing to work overtime when needs arises
- Must be able to work 12 hours rotating day and night shift
- Certifications in Environmental, Health and Safety and HAZMAT will be an advantage
- Work experience in a similar EHS appointment will be an advantage
- Initiative with good sense of responsibility, drive and independence
