The role focuses on promoting workplace safety and compliance with regulations, overseeing training, incident management, and continuous improvement efforts. The position requires collaboration with leadership and project managers, and involves travel to job sites. A Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field and relevant certifications are preferred, along with five years of construction safety experience.

Job Description

This person is responsible for shaping and fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes wellness, safety, and productivity. Success for this role is the implementation of creative best practices that ensure compliance and KPI improvements. Leading Key Performance Indicators include awareness, company engagement, training records, formal and informal audits, incident reports, investigations, case management and corrective actions. Lagging Key Performance Indicators include training records, EMR, TRIR, DART, ISO 140001 recertification, A ratings in ISN or other supplier qualification programs.

This position reports to the company President and works hand in hand with the Manager of Field Operations and all other GENESYS Leadership positions. This is primarily an in-office position based in Kansas City, Missouri. Travel as needed to GENESYS job sites and the Farmington Hills, Michigan office is required. A primary office location of Farmington Hills may be possible for the right candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure and document regulatory compliance and continuous improvement
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of multi-state OSHA, EPA, DOT and local regulations and implement policies to ensure compliance across all worksites.
• Work with project managers and field superintendents to quality, select and staff field safety coverage requirements
• Update and maintain incident response and incident management protocol. This includes direct personal oversite as required to ensure proper notification, escalation and resolution.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses, implement preventive measures, and lead root cause investigations for incidents and Continuous Safety Improvements (near-miss).
• Lead efforts to sustain and improve ISO 14001 certification, including managing hazardous waste, chemical inventories, environmental permitting and SDS.
• Oversee ongoing safety training for field, manufacturing, and office personnel, while maintaining accurate training records and ensure certifications remain current.
• Participate in project planning to proactively address safety considerations
• Support field & shop safety meetings
• Participate in engineering safety design reviews and lift/critical lift plans when requested
• Work with insurance carriers and HR on claims management and follow up. Coordinate and participate in workers’ compensation audits and hours-worked reporting, to ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with insurance requirements.
• Represent GENESYS in client meetings when requested
• Provide Quarterly Safety Updates to Managers and Senior Leadership

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, OSH or Safety Management
• Relevant Certifications (CSP, CHST, ASP, OSHA 30) are highly desirable.
• Five years of experience in construction safety including field experience
• Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience conducting employee safety training.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct and document safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
• Strong supervisory and leadership abilities.
• A combination of personal initiative, drive, and collaborative skills.
