Job Description

Amris Consulting is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist for a contract position in Raleigh, NC, lasting until 2025, with potential for full-time conversion in 2026. Responsibilities include implementing EHS programs, conducting risk assessments, supervising safety operations, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in EHS or equivalent experience, with familiarity in GMP operations and hazardous materials shipping certification required.

Reporting: EHS Manager

This is a contract job for the duration of 2025. There is a possibility to convert to FTE with the client in 2026.

Description

Summary: Responsible for providing assistance and implementation of the Environmental Health and Safety program of site Raleigh, NC

· Assist EHS Manager with coordination of onsite third-party vendors

· Subject Matter Expert for Environmental and Safety Controlled substance knowledge preferred but not required

· Supervise and support onsite operations in areas of Health and Safety

Key Responsibilities

Operations:

• Draft and maintain risk assessments and other EHS paperwork.

• Perform accident investigations / analysis

• Author, review and approve GMP documents in Veeva.

• Coordinate and ship out assets for off-site calibrations, acquire quotes for service and scheduling shipments and pick ups

• Serve as a designated Controlled Substance Monitor for controlled substance activities according to SOP’s and policies.

Environmental Health and Safety:

• Initiate, recommend, or implement additional safety measures as needed to ensure site safety

• Perform or recommend needed maintenance of workspaces, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment

• Ensure compliance with established health and safety regulations and precautions

• Perform solid debris and satellite waste removal weekly or as needed and weekly hazardous waste inspections

• Operate in a fast-paced manual assembly line using production equipment recognizing hazards of the area and recommending controls

• Maintain respirator-qualification for use while performing cleaning duties and hazardous waste removal by completing annual fit assessment

• Maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) 49CFR172 and IATA (International Air Transportation Association) certification in shipment of Hazardous Materials

• Perform all required additional training as needed and as assigned within the due dates

• Produce work of the highest quality in accordance with the relevant regulatory guidelines to challenging time scales

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent experience

· Interact with peers and members of other departments in team setting in a professional manner

· Strong understanding of cGMPs

· 4 years of experience in GMP operations preferred

· Familiarity with OSHA EHS Standards

· Understanding of controlled substances preferred

· 49 CFR 172 and IATA DGR hazardous materials shipping certification required
