Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Engineering or Science Intern for their Columbia, Maryland office for summer 2025. The intern will apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, engage in technical writing, data analysis, and potentially fieldwork. Candidates should be enrolled in a relevant degree program and possess strong interpersonal and technical skills. Local candidates are preferred as transportation to the office is required.

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineering or Science Intern in our Columbia, Maryland office, you will have the opportunity to apply your engineering (civil, geotechnical, environmental, and water resources) academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. We are seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) intern for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of 2025. Preferred candidates would have the ability to return to the position for up to two additional semester rotations during their undergraduate or graduate studies. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Researching, collecting, organizing, and summarizing environmental and historical documents;
• Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
• Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
• Follow instructions and interact with engineers, scientists, geologists, office administrative staff, contractors, and construction personnel;
• Assist with environmental due diligence (Phase I/II ESAs); and
• Potential for fieldwork such as site visits, soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, in-person historical research at Washington, D.C.-area repositories, and drilling and contractor oversight.

Education and Licensure
• Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant science or engineering discipline. (required)
• Degree focus area in civil engineering. (required)
• Upper division (e.g. junior, senior) or Master’s enrollment. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Office. (preferred)
• Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (preferred)
• Local candidates preferred for the potential ability to return for additional internships no relocation provided. (preferred)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record to drive to project sites. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
• Minimum: $21.17/hour / Maximum: $29.64/hour (Columbia, MD)
• Minimum: $22.18/hour / Maximum: $31.06/hour (Washington, D.C)
