About the position

The Environmental Engineering Technician 1 (EET1) is a part-time role focused on assisting in the operation and maintenance of air monitoring equipment within the New York City Metropolitan area. The position involves working closely with Laboratory Equipment Designers and Engineers, performing routine testing, and ensuring the equipment meets performance standards. The EET1 will also support special air monitoring projects and assist in the repair and upkeep of monitoring sites.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of air monitoring equipment.

• Conduct routine testing and deployment of air monitoring equipment.
,
• Independently operate and maintain various manual air monitoring samplers.
,
• Ensure monitoring equipment meets performance and collection efficiencies.
,
• Perform quality assurance and quality control checks on equipment.
,
• Aid field technicians in special air monitoring projects.
,
• Assist in the repair and refurbishment of failed equipment and site structures.
,
• Maintain air monitoring sites and surroundings.
,
• Operate a State vehicle for transportation and installation of equipment.
,
• Physically move air monitoring equipment and supplies.

Requirements
• Four years of experience in technician work in relevant engineering technology fields or as a surveyor or drafter.

• Graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience.
,
• Completion of a high school technical education program in relevant fields.
,
• 18 college semester credit hours in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related subjects.

Nice-to-haves
• Mechanical and electrical equipment repair experience and/or training.
