Teal Energi is seeking an Environmental Engineer in Coffeyville, KS, responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Key duties include maintaining permits, preparing reports, managing regulatory programs, and interfacing with various departments and regulatory agencies. Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree and at least 2 years of experience in the refining or chemical industry, with a focus on environmental compliance.
Environmental Engineer
Location: Coffeyville, Kansas
Job Summary:
This professional staff position supports and leads compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The position will be responsible for: maintaining permits and approvals; leading recommendations for improvement to compliance and management systems; assessing compliance in assigned environmental media and continued knowledge development in all media; managing and maintaining assigned federal and state environmental regulatory programs; preparing and delivering training and compliance procedures; reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
The position will require interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, Project Engineering, other refinery department personnel and contractors, and exposure to regulatory agencies and the public
Key accountabilities will include:
• Track refinery environmental performance day-to-day as environmental engineer for refinery in assigned media.
• Assist with environmental monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports, including NSPS/MACT reports, Tier II, Air Emissions Inventory, and others
• Work with environmental consultants to plan, schedule, and execute required emissions testing.
• Track and report on Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) performance
• Support the on-going effort to implement environmental data assurance project including implementing quality alerts
• Complete the environmental KPI dashboarding for day-to-day real-time environmental compliance performance
• Become knowledgeable on flare operations, flare management plans, and investigate and report on potential flare events
• Participate in regulatory, inspections, audits, and reviews
• Manage time and resources to achieve deadlines; ability to prioritize tasks
• Participate in the Root Cause Analysis program
• Improve knowledge and skills through training, seminars, etc.
• Must be able to interface with all levels of the organization
• Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress questions and concerns
• Other duties as time permits or assigned:
• Collect and analyze data to develop conclusions and make recommendations regarding Environmental regulations.
• Support assigned projects for compliance, scope, schedule, and budget
Expected results:

• Develop and maintain environmental data management and reporting systems to track compliance
• Courteous and timely responses to information requests.
• Maintain highly organized records and reports in readily available location
• Support operational excellence with communication of environmental performance
• Excellent communication with peers, project team members and customers.
• Adherence to and promote company Mission and Values, standards, policies, and procedures
Education requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering preferred. Other Engineering and related technical degrees with relevant experience will be considered
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineering-in-Training (EIT), preferred
Experience requirements:
• 2+ years refining, or chemical industry experience required and 2+ years environmental regulatory experience including air regulatory compliance preferred
• Mechanical aptitude, with strong mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills required
• Understanding P&ID's and PFD's preferred
• Desire to work in a team environment as an active member
• Demonstrated competency of interpersonal skills
• Ability to alter work schedule to meet changing requirements
• Fluent in English, strong written and presentation technical communication skills required
• Intermediate computer skills (Word processing, graphics, spreadsheet) required

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
