Job Description

The Department of the Air Force is hiring an Environmental Engineer in Albert, OK, requiring security clearance. Position: ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER with Security Clearance

Duties
• provides extensive professional environmental expertise to support assigned environmental projects through the application of professional knowledge and skill in environmental conservation and compliance practices, processes, and techniques.
• responsible for ensuring the bos contractor is executing assigned projects, in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and policies.
• independently establishes surveillance methods and a systematic pattern of actions necessary to ensure that contracted civil engineer (ce) environmental management services are performed satisfactorily in meeting wing mission and performance work statement (pws) requirements.
• provides advisory services on questions, issues, and projects in assigned program areas.
• complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment.
• coordinates curricula and training for assigned program areas at the installation and assists the bos contractor in obtaining government-provided training as specified in the pws. Requirements conditions of employment

• this position is designated noncritical sensitive: must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• this position is subject to provisions of the dod priority placement program
• this position has been designated by the air force as a testing designated position (tdp) under the air force civilian drug demand reduction program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
• illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the air force, national security, and public safety.
• incumbent is required to file an oge form 450, confidential financial disclosure report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
• the work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
• disclosure of political appointments
• the duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent (continued below)
• federal agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the ready reserve and cannot become a member of the ready reserve. (iaw: dodd 1200. 7, "screening the ready reserve,")
• work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
• this is a mission-essential position performing a mission-critical-function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
• may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
• depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period.
• upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Qualifications in order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the office of personnel management (opm) qualification standards for general schedule positions, professional and scientific positions. Basic requirement or individual occupational requirement: 0819 environmental engineering series- basic requirement or individual occupational requirement: 0401 general natural resources management and bilogical sciences- basic requirement or individual occupational requirement: 1301 general physical science series- in addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: specialized experience for gs-0401/0819/-1301-09t11: applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade gs-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes experience in a wide range of environmental engineering principles and practices. Must provide expert oversight across multiple complex areas, including air and water quality compliance, hazardous waste management, and industrial wastewater treatment.
