Georgia-Pacific is hiring an Environmental Engineer for its Muskogee, OK facility. The role involves developing and managing environmental compliance programs, providing regulatory guidance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. About the position

Georgia Pacific's Consumer Operations is seeking qualified professionals for the Environmental Engineer role at the Georgia-Pacific Pro Products Operation located in Muskogee, OK. The Muskogee Mill is a Tissue and Towel manufacturing operation that includes a recycle pulp and paper mill, paper converting facility, power plant, wastewater treatment, and a non-hazardous waste landfill. The Environmental Engineer will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and management of the facility's environmental compliance programs and management systems. This position reports directly to the site Environmental Manager and is part of the Georgia-Pacific Pro Region, which includes facilities in Savannah, GA, and Green Bay, WI, in addition to Muskogee, OK. This relationship allows for opportunities to directly support and work closely with the other facilities in the region as projects or emerging issues arise. The Muskogee consumer products operation spans approximately 70 acres (or 2,900,000 square feet) of manufacturing and warehouse space, employing around 830 employees. It is the second largest employer in the Muskogee, OK area and 45th in the state. The non-union facility operates on 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, housing two of the 13 largest tissue machines in the world and paper machines that produce an average of 900 tons of paper per day. The finished product consists of a mix of 40% Retail and 60% Commercial.

Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and strategic direction through the application of our Principle Based Management™ philosophy to achieve superior results.

• Provide regulatory guidance and tactical compliance support consistent with our Stewardship & Compliance Principle to achieve our Vision.

• Develop and maintain an evergreen point of view of environmental risks, priorities, key issues, and strategic plans.
,
• Fulfill regulatory compliance obligations in a disciplined manner that leverages technology enablers, common processes, and best practices from across the enterprise.
,
• Build solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including mill operations and maintenance teams, internal and external engineering, contractors, community members, and regulatory agencies.
,
• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of mill processes and their impact on environmental performance that allows you to enable our operations teams to meet their environmental goals.
,
• Assist with day-to-day environmental compliance requirements found in permits, plans, and applicable regulations, including conducting hazardous waste, stormwater, and SPCC inspections.
,
• Collect data and prepare regulatory reports such as air emission inventories, waste reports, wastewater DMRs, Tier II reports, and TRI reports.

• Provide contractor support for environmental projects including stack testing and groundwater sampling.

• Leverage available technology platforms to transform how work is completed and strive for transformation and automation.

• Periodically serve as 'Environmental on call' on a rotating schedule to provide environmental support to operations and review daily compliance metrics outside of regular business hours.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or Pulp and Paper Science.

• Environmental compliance and management systems experience.
,
• Knowledge of federal environmental regulations.
,
• Experience analyzing process or environmental data trends.
,
• Experience interpreting regulatory language and communicating regulatory requirements to a broad range of stakeholders such as facility leadership, operators, and maintenance personnel.

• Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of Oklahoma environmental regulations.

• Experience with environmental regulations applicable to the Pulp and Paper industry.
