Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Engineer - Sustainability to join our team for a significant rail tunnel project in the New York / New Jersey area. In this role, you will lead and support efforts to integrate environmental, social, and economic sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.

Role Accountabilities:
• Lead the collection of design- and construction-phase data to track sustainability performance, including metrics such as embodied carbon, waste diversion rates, and energy efficiency.
• Develop and manage comprehensive Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports, and dashboards for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including contributions to ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP).
• Refine sustainability specifications, incorporating performance targets for low-carbon materials, waste management, and water conservation.
• Collaborate with the design team to document sustainability measures for Envision credits and compliance.
• Attend weekly construction management (CM) meetings and conduct regular site visits to monitor sustainability implementation.
• Partner with construction contractors to integrate sustainability requirements into construction practices and documentation.
• Review construction submittals for compliance with Envision and other sustainability requirements, ensuring timely documentation for certification purposes.
• Manage all Envision-related reporting and documentation, ensuring compliance with credit requirements across project packages.
• Work closely with GDC’s Diversity and Community Outreach teams to support environmental justice and workforce development programs for disadvantaged communities.
• Collaborate with external partners, including contractors and sustainability consultants, to ensure alignment on sustainability goals.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainability-focused roles, including LEED and/or Envision projects.

Key Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated expertise in data collection, analysis, and KPI reporting for large-scale projects.
• Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as Envision, LEED, GRI and CDP.
• Strong technical knowledge of sustainability standards and practices in the design and construction of infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder expectations.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
