Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Environmental Engineer to join our Regulatory Compliance and Climate Resiliency team. This role combines technical engineering expertise with stakeholder engagement to advance the City's water efficiency and climate adaptation efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and passion for environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and review technical reports identifying engineering solutions for water supply, treatment, quality, stormwater, and wastewater collection systems
• Lead outreach and engagement efforts with schools, agencies, neighborhood councils, and environmental organizations
• Create written materials and deliver technical presentations to executives, staff, students, and community stakeholders
• Conduct engineering research on climate resiliency and water efficiency including conservation, recycled water, and greywater systems
• Investigate and resolve technical inquiries involving data collection and analysis
• Assist with implementing climate resilience measures into Capital Improvement Projects such as pumping plants
• Review Sewer Lateral Rebate Program applications using CCTV video analysis and Navigate LA system
• Coordinate with multiple City departments (FMD, BOE, LADBS, PAO, ICSD) to ensure application completeness

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to diverse audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
• Experience with GIS software and mapping applications
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
• Strong organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes and regulatory frameworks
• Experience with climate adaptation planning and water conservation programs
• Familiarity with CCTV sewer inspection and Navigate LA systems
• Background in stakeholder engagement and public outreach
• Understanding of municipal Capital Improvement Project processes
• Experience with environmental compliance and permitting

Essential Skills
• Ability to deal tactfully with City personnel, public, and regulatory agencies
• Independent research capabilities with strong summarization skills
• Data analysis and interpretation expertise
• Project coordination across multiple departments and agencies
• Technical writing and presentation development

Pay: $85,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
