Job Description
Clear Carbon is seeking an Environmental Engineer for Carbon Emissions Management based in Perth, Australia. The role involves using the Clear Carbon platform to help clients manage and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in GHG emissions accounting and a relevant degree. This is a full-time position requiring relocation for those not currently in Perth.
Environmental Engineer – Carbon Emissions Management
Location: Perth, Western Australia (or Australia-based and willing to relocate)
Company: Clear Carbon
Accelerate the Journey to Net Zero with Clear Carbon
At Clear Carbon, we combine advanced emissions science with AI and machine learning to deliver real-time, audit-ready GHG data, on demand reporting and decarbonisation pathways — all through a single source of truth. Our platform is trusted by major organisations to record, report and reduce emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 — faster, more accurately, and with less effort.
We are now seeking a Environmental Engineer – Carbon Emissions Management to turn platform-generated insights into real-world climate action. You will lead the functional delivery of emissions outcomes for customers — helping them respond to regulatory and voluntary frameworks, and execute active decarbonisation strategies.
Important Notes
• You must be Perth-based, or located in Australia and willing to relocate, with full Australian working rights.
• International applicants and recruitment agencies will not be considered.
About the Role
This full-time role places you at the intersection of platform technology and climate execution. Rather than building frameworks from scratch, you will use your deep expertise in emissions management to interpret the outputs of the Clear Carbon Platform — then drive the execution of decarbonisation initiatives across our customer base.
What You’ll Do
Functional Focus: How You’ll Use the Clear Carbon Platform
• Record: Help customers capture and assure real-time Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data from a wide range of sources.
• Report: Guide customers in using pre-built platform outputs to meet obligations under NGER, Safeguard Mechanism, ASRS, and voluntary standards like GRI, SASB, and the UN SDGs.
• Model: Run scenario analyses using platform intelligence — including marginal abatement cost curves (MACC) — to identify and prioritise reduction opportunities.
• Reduce: Convert platform insights into live, executable decarbonisation programs — working hand-in-hand with customers to cut emissions, improve performance and stay on track to Net Zero.
• Collaborate: Act as the functional point of contact across project delivery, customer onboarding, and strategic planning — translating complex carbon data into actionable decisions.
• Inform: Provide product feedback and domain expertise to help evolve platform features, data science tools, and emissions methodologies.
About You
You’re a technically strong and action-oriented environmental professional who thrives on solving real emissions challenges. You enjoy working with data, systems and people — and want to use your GHG expertise to help others move from compliance to climate leadership.
Essential Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ direct experience in GHG emissions accounting and management (Scopes 1, 2, and 3).
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., Environmental Science).
• Deep understanding of Australia’s regulatory frameworks (e.g. NGER, Safeguard Mechanism, ASRS) and key voluntary standards (GRI, SASB, UN SDGs etc).
• Demonstrated ability to work with carbon platforms or tools to interpret emissions data, model scenarios, and implement reductions.
• Strong communication and project management skills — able to guide customers from insight to action.
• Full Australian working rights and current (or future) Perth residency.
Desirable Skills
• Familiarity with abatement modelling, or emissions forecasting.
• Understanding of global climate disclosure frameworks (e.g., ISSB, CDP).
• Experience working with AI/ML-enabled emissions platforms or advanced data tools.
Why Clear Carbon?
• Impact: Turn cutting-edge platform outputs into emissions reductions for leading Australian and Global businesses.
• Technology: Work with a purpose-built, AI-powered solution designed to streamline emissions management from end to end.
• Culture: Join a collaborative, vision-driven team focused on science-based decarbonisation.
• Growth: Help shape the next evolution of emissions technology and climate action in Australia.
