About the position

The Environmental Energy Manager will play a crucial role in advancing sustainability and environmental initiatives at Didlake, focusing on both internal operations and client-facing projects. This position is based at the Naval Operations Base and Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where the manager will be responsible for educating staff on sustainability practices, reporting on sustainability metrics, and developing resources that promote sustainable operations. The Environmental Manager will also engage in research initiatives that assess indoor environmental quality factors, ensuring that Didlake meets its sustainability objectives across various contracts. In this role, the Environmental Manager will coordinate sustainability efforts related to both contract and organizational initiatives. This includes managing sustainable practices primarily within custodial contracts, particularly as they pertain to the CIMS-GB certification. The manager will be tasked with developing sustainable strategies for various lines of business, including grounds maintenance and warehousing, and will be responsible for tracking and analyzing purchasing data related to chemicals and supplies used in sustainability projects. The Environmental Manager will lead or co-lead the Sustainability Team, overseeing the implementation of sustainability initiatives and preparing documentation for quarterly reporting. Participation in project teams related to facilities, purchasing, and strategic planning will be essential, as will involvement in the Environmental Management System (EMS) meetings. The manager will also be part of the Chemical Review Team, ensuring that all chemical purchases align with environmental standards and certification requirements. A key aspect of this role is the ability to monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that Didlake meets its obligations. The Environmental Manager will analyze and report on sustainability trends, preparing data for federal agencies as required by contracts. Leadership skills are vital, as the manager will foster teamwork, provide feedback, and promote a positive work environment while ensuring that all employees are aware of their responsibilities regarding Human Rights matters. The position requires completion of all required training as mandated by Didlake.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate sustainability and environmental efforts regarding contract and organizational initiatives.

• Manage sustainable efforts as detailed in custodial contracts for CIMS-GB certification.

• Develop appropriate sustainable efforts for grounds, warehousing, and other lines of business as assigned.

• Implement, review, and update sustainability efforts through organizational strategic and contractual requirements.

• Track, obtain, and analyze purchasing data related to chemicals and supplies for various projects.

• Lead or co-lead the Sustainability Team and prepare data for quarterly reporting.
,
• Participate in project teams related to facilities, purchasing, strategic planning, and organizational certification efforts.
,
• Attend Environmental Management System (EMS) meetings and participate in the Chemical Review Team.

• Monitor and prepare organizational concerns related to regulatory standards to ensure compliance obligations are met.
,
• Analyze and report on sustainable trends and information to maintain appropriate standards and operational procedures.

• Collect and prepare data related to sustainability purchasing for federal agencies as required by contracts.

• Collaborate with project management regarding sustainability meetings, training, and site support.
,
• Provide leadership to staff, fostering teamwork and a positive team spirit while modeling strong business ethics.

Requirements
• A preferred degree related to Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related industry.
,
• Two (2) years of work experience related to Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related industry.
,
• Certifications related to regulatory, auditing, LEED, CIMS-GB, or ISO preferred.
,
• Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate credentials/background checks as required by contracts.
,
• Valid, insurable driver's license required for accessing all areas of the contract.
,
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret safety regulations and training manuals, write reports, and present information to groups.
,
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel, and familiarity with web-based inventory or work order systems.
,
• Ability to interact, train, and resolve personnel issues of direct reports and operational employees.
