Job Description

RPS is seeking an Environmental Consultant for ESIA work on international offshore projects. This role involves coordinating ESIA reports, reviewing them against standards, and contributing to business development. Candidates should have knowledge of international ESIA policies and experience with energy infrastructure projects. The position offers hybrid working arrangements and can be based in several UK locations, with options for home working and flexible hours.
The Opportunity

Tetra Tech RPS Energy is adding a Consultant or Senior Environmental Consultant to support our ESIA work for our portfolio of high-profile offshore projects internationally. This role will sit in our Marine Consenting and Environment team. The Consultant/Senior Consultant will work closely with our UK-based ESIA team on projects to deliver ESIAs to international standards in emerging markets in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, predominantly for Offshore Wind but also in Energy Transition and O&G.

We operate a hybrid working arrangement and you can be based in Chepstow, Edinburgh, Woking, Aberdeen or London (home working can be considered). We have flexible working opportunities, including part time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.

We are at the forefront of the industry - delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience includes 20 years working across the UK, wider Europe, and rest of the world. You’ll become a member of a deeply experienced marine consenting and environment team who have been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultant for some of the industry’s major “firsts”.

Your Role
• You will contribute towards the structuring and coordination of ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) reports, baseline surveys and monitoring methods as well as the preparation of E&S management plans (ESMP) and action plans (ESAP).
• You will review ESIA reports against national and/or international standards [such as Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, and standards of other development banks, including European Bank of Reconstruction (EBRD) and European Investment Bank (EIB)].
• Provide technical input for projects in accordance with the project plan under the coordination and supervision of the Principal Consultant ESIA.
• Contribute to our business development in the sector, including writing proposals.

This role would be suitable if you are at the early stages in your career, as you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills with a strong team around you.

Qualifications
• You will have a working knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, WB Environmental and Social Standards (ESS) and WBG EHS Guidelines, either through undertaking ESIAs or due diligence experience.
• You will understand international policy and legislation related to ESIA.
• You will have experience of working on ESIA projects for major energy infrastructure projects.
• Applicants with experience of working in other offshore industries (e.g., Oil & Gas) or onshore energy infrastructure projects would also be welcomed.
• Experience working with international projects outside of the UK & Ireland.
• A post-graduate qualification in a relevant environmental or social discipline.
• You will be interested in taking on a variety of tasks, as no two days are the same.
• Competency in liaising with diverse stakeholders including clients, project managers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
• A willingness to travel in the UK and internationally to perform ESIA tasks and engage with stakeholders. This is expected to be on an adhoc basis (approx. 2 times per year) and may be arranged with limited notice.
• You will have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Fluent written and oral command of English is essential.
