Sazerac Company is seeking an Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Intern for a 12-week summer internship in Frankfort, KY. About the position
As an Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Intern at Sazerac, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Environmental Compliance team. This internship is designed for students who are passionate about environmental science and sustainability, providing an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. You will collaborate closely with our Operations Team to research and implement various sustainability projects that align with our organizational goals. Throughout the 12-week summer internship, which runs from May 19th, 2025, to August 9th, 2025, you will engage in a variety of tasks that will enhance your understanding of environmental compliance and sustainability practices. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations, supporting the preparation and submission of compliance reports, and helping to monitor and track environmental performance metrics. You will also participate in internal audits and inspections, assist in maintaining compliance records, and contribute to the development of compliance programs and initiatives. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops, networking events, and social activities. You will work with a mentor to develop project plans, set goals, and receive continuous feedback throughout your internship. At the end of the summer, you will present your project findings, showcasing your contributions to the team. This internship not only offers valuable experience but also the potential for a full-time position post-graduation, making it an excellent stepping stone for your career in environmental compliance and sustainability.
Responsibilities
• Assist in reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations, sustainability trends, and industry benchmarks.

• Support the preparation and submission of compliance reports and documentation.

• Help monitor and track environmental performance metrics and compliance status.

• Participate in internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental policies.

• Assist with maintaining and updating environmental compliance records and databases.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs and initiatives.

• Support the preparation of training materials and presentations on compliance topics.

• Assist in the development and execution of sustainability projects and programs.

• Help track and analyze sustainability metrics and report on progress.

• Support the creation of sustainability reports and presentations.

• Assist with organizing and promoting internal Environmental events.

• Collaborate with various departments to identify and implement sustainable practices.
Requirements
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, law, or a related field.

• Anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027.

• 3.0 cumulative GPA.

• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, innovative, solution-oriented mindset, with a passion for learning.

• Team player with effective communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.

• Strong interest in environmental compliance, regulations, and sustainability.

• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Must be willing to relocate to Louisville, Kentucky or Frankfort, Kentucky for the duration of the internship.

• Must be at least 20 years of age by the start of the internship.

• Permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
