Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Chemist to support a variety of military environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) within the Federal sector.

The candidate must be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a wide range projects, a positive attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required including the oversight of subcontractors

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Support development of project documents including SAPs and QAPPs.
• Support data evaluation, including regulatory comparison, and associated reporting for field investigation and remediation reports.
• Validate analytical chemical data in accordance with DoD, USEPA, and State guidelines.
• Solicit analytical laboratory services and evaluate for project use.
• Act as liaison between laboratory, field team, and project management during project implementation.
• Support field work including mobilizations, on location associated with sample/site data collection, and provide technical and administrative support as needed to comply with project QA/QC requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
• BA or BS in Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Valid driver’s license. for a motor vehicle records check
• US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related discipline.
• Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
• Able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
• Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.
• Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.
