Environmental Chemist (CleanPack)

Clean Harbors is seeking a CDL B Environmental Chemist in Bridgeport, OH, to manage chemical waste while ensuring compliance with regulations. Clean Harbors is looking for a motivated CDL B Environmental Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste while adhering to Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as our internal policies and procedures. This position involves working in various environments, both indoors and outdoors, including plants, labs, and customer sites. As a customer-facing role, you will regularly interact with clients while performing lab packs, participating in household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and assisting with lab relocations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prioritize health and safety through compliance with all work practices and policies.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications.
• Conduct inspections of storage areas to ensure compliance and proper housekeeping.
• Monitor drums for leaks, spills, and labeling compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals efficiently.
• Execute jobs at various customer locations, including large Fortune 500 companies.
• Prepare and approve all project documentation for shipments following OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Understand and follow customer-specific disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams as needed.
• Ensure accuracy in drum counts and condition for shipping.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles following DOT and other required standards.
• Observe all corporate and environmental health and safety guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
• Valid Driver's License.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months.
• Capacity to perform physical tasks as per job requirements.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical examination.
• Compliance with respiratory protection standards, including facial hair guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Chemistry or Natural Science.
• Experience in Environmental Services.
