Job Description

The Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife is hiring a temporary Environmental Assistant C in Grand Isle, VT. Responsibilities include assisting with salmonid and walleye rearing activities, grounds maintenance, and janitorial duties. Candidates must be 18+, a US citizen with a valid driver's license, and physically fit for outdoor work. Experience with fish or aquaculture is preferred but not required.
OVERVIEW

The chosen applicant will assist in daily rearing activities of salmonids and walleye. Rearing activities include but are not limited to: egg care, cleaning tanks, picking mortality, feeding fish, assisting in stock out activities, assisting in spawning activities, administering fin clips, monthly length and weight assessments.

Activities will also include but are not limited to grounds and facility maintenance, this includes:
• Mowing
• Weed whacking
• Pressure washing
• Equipment upkeep
• Janitorial duties
• Vehicle operation and maintenance

The candidate must be 18 years old, a US citizen with a valid driver’s license. Additionally, the candidate should be physically fit and comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions.

Experience working with fish or aquaculture systems, as a farm hand, operating hand and power tools, mowers/weed whackers or other mechanical equipment is preferred but not required.
