Meta is hiring an Environmental Analyst in Fremont, CA, to support environmental monitoring and compliance for data center and network projects. The role involves collaborating with teams on data architecture, developing tools for compliance reporting, and monitoring environmental incidents. Responsibilities include conducting audits, managing data, and researching regulations affecting environmental management. The analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring Meta's infrastructure projects meet environmental standards.
About the position
Meta is seeking an Environmental Analyst to support environmental monitoring and analytics critical to regulatory compliance of our international data center and network builds. This position will work on cross-functional program efforts for the large and growing global infrastructure portfolio during pre-development, construction, and operations phases. The Environmental Analyst will collaborate closely with both the data center and network environmental teams, reporting directly to the Global Manager of the Environment & Water team within the Site Development organization. The role is essential in ensuring that Meta's infrastructure projects comply with environmental regulations and permits, which includes recordkeeping and reporting. The Environmental Analyst will conceptualize and own the data architecture on behalf of the environment team, working in collaboration with data science and engineering teams. This involves developing and applying a data foundation to support various environmental analytics workstreams, which will inform Meta's reporting across multiple environmental disciplines, including air emissions, noise impacts, biological and cultural resources, and soil/groundwater cleanup. The analyst will also be responsible for developing and maintaining tools to integrate compliance and reporting across the build life-cycle, including mechanisms to monitor and report relevant environmental incidents such as spills, releases, violations, and complaints for both internal and external reporting requirements. In addition, the Environmental Analyst will develop metrics and tools to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives & key results (OKRs) for environmental teams. They will complete thorough and accurate environmental data audits to identify areas for continuous improvements and will oversee data management, document control, and recordkeeping for the data center and network environmental teams. The role also includes leading data collection and analysis for the data center and network environmental programs required for reporting, supporting process development for generator automation programs, and developing training and educational tools regarding compliance and awareness for diverse Meta teams. Monitoring state and local policies that could affect the environment and conducting research related to regulations or initiatives affecting environmental management are also key responsibilities of this position.
Responsibilities
• Support compliance with environmental regulations and permits during infrastructure projects (recordkeeping and reporting).

• Develop metrics and tools to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives & key results (OKRs) for environmental teams.

• Complete thorough and accurate environmental data audits to identify areas for continuous improvements.

• Organize, review and evaluate environmental monitoring data (e.g., air emissions, inspections).
,
• Oversee data management, document control, and recordkeeping for data center and network environmental teams.

• Lead data collection and analysis for the data center and network environmental programs required for reporting (Sustainability Reporting, Annual Environmental Reports).
,
• Support process development for generator automation programs.
,
• Develop training and educational tools regarding compliance and awareness for diverse Meta teams.
,
• Monitor state and local policies that could affect the environment.
,
• Conduct research related to regulations or initiatives affecting environmental management.
,
• Support team on accounting and billing (Purchase Orders, invoicing).
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
,
• 3+ years professional experience working on environmental programs.
,
• Technical expertise related to environmental management.
,
• Proven communication, organizational and program management skills, with the experience to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
,
• Experience collaborating with data engineers and data scientists, building productive cross-functional and working relationships.
,
• Experience to communicate and work with highly confidential information.
,
• Database management skills using SQL and/or experience manipulating data using programming language such as Python.
,
• Experience using large data sets to build data models.
,
• Proficient knowledge with statistical analysis, quantitative analytics to apply methodologies to analyze environmental risks and opportunities.
,
• Experience to design, implement, and maintain dashboard in Tableau or comparable program (PowerBI, ESRI).
Nice-to-haves
• Previous experience with data center environmental or sustainability analytics.

• Familiarity with project management tools.

• Advanced data skills such as extract, transform, and load (ETL).
