Job Description
Haley & Aldrich is seeking an Environmental/Air Compliance Project Manager in Richmond, VA, to lead air compliance projects for energy and industrial clients. The role involves managing project execution, client relations, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on air dispersion modeling and permitting. Candidates should have a BS in engineering, 10+ years of experience, and strong communication skills. This full-time position offers flexibility in location and requires some travel.

We are building our presence in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions, and are seeking a Environmental/Air Compliance Project Manager/Senior Technical Specialist with experience in air compliance and permitting to assist us in our continued growth supporting energy, industrial, and other clients. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with a range of dynamic and diverse projects with our clients throughout the U.S. This is a full-time position which can be in one of our 40 office locations or virtually.
Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Lead environmental compliance projects, with special emphasis on air dispersion modeling, permitting, and compliance.
• Understand client needs and execute projects to achieve client goals.
• Coordinate with clients and regulators to support projects throughout the U.S.
• Understand Federal and state environmental regulations and to evaluate and interpret requirements as they apply to our clients.
• Be capable of managing financial and technical aspects of projects.
• Be effective in assigning and managing work.
• Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.
• Prepare project deliverables including reports, plans and specifications.
• Demonstrate very strong verbal communications and written skills including client deliverables and regulatory submittals.
• Demonstrate strong coaching and mentoring skills.
• Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
• Comply with Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
• Some travel may be required.
Skills/Experience
• BS in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or related discipline; MS degree preferred.
• 10+ years of related work experience
• Experience in performing air quality modeling using standard air quality models (e.g., AERMOD, AERSCREEN) is desirable.
• Experience preparing permit applications and air emission calculations.
• Technical report writing skills.
• Communication skills and ability to collaborate with others in a consulting environment.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of common industrial activities and the relationship with various environmental media/regulations (e.g., air, wastewater, regulated waste, EPCRA, tanks).
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other standard software; GIS or CAD experience a plus.

The anticipated pay range for this role is flexible, depending on factors such as the employee’s skills, experience, education, certifications, and primary work location. Pay ranges will reflect variances due to cost of labor differentials between geographic markets. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000 annually.
