While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does an* Environmental Affairs Director do for us?

The Environmental Affairs Director provides strategic leadership for the utility’s environmental and hydro licensing programs. This role oversees environmental compliance, resource management, and all FERC hydro licensing and relicensing efforts. The Director ensures alignment with corporate goals, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives, while fostering a culture of compliance and environmental stewardship across the organization. This position serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and represents the company in regulatory, legal, and stakeholder engagements.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE*
• *Knowledge of:

+ Extensive knowledge of FERC hydro licensing, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and National Environmental Policy Act
• *Skills in:**

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools

+ Strong project management, negotiation, and public engagement skills
• *Ability to:


+ Analyze complex regulatory issues and develop strategic solutions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*
• *Education:

+ Bachelors degree in environmental science, engineering, natural resources, business, or related field
• *Preferred:**

+ Masters degree
• *Experience:


+ 10 years of progressive experience in environmental management or hydro licensing
Preferred:**

+ Utility experience, including project management and regulatory compliance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management.
